Walnut Trails

Walnut Trails is located in the affluent suburb of Overland Park in Johnson County, Kansas. The site sits between W 185^th and W 199^th Streets, and is bound by Mission Road and State Line Road—just 2 miles from the 300-acre Overland Park Arboretum and Botanical Gardens. Walnut Trails is a master-planned community entitled for 1,760 residential units on 567 acres. The 42-acre Blue Valley School site in the middle of the project is anticipated to house the elementary and middle schools by 2016/2017, and given the convenient walking distance from the 10 distinct neighborhoods within Walnut Trails, the project should provide an ideal housing destination for those commuting to Kansas City, Kansas, and to the employment centers in Overland Park. 

Designed to be a walkable community, outdoor amenities include walking and biking trails, old-fashioned boulevards, water features, and open space to reflect the rural setting surrounding the site. The improvements take advantage of the undulating topography, providing residents with fabulous vistas and well-landscaped view corridors. Walnut Trails will have many water elements, designated recreational parks and fields—all located within a 10-minute walk for most homes. Serving as the community promenade, the classic parkway will act as a signature trail network that connects residents of surrounding neighborhoods to local amenities, including a masterfully incorporated hidden pond.
